Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice (IQA)
Course Overview
This qualification enables trainee IQAs to attain the knowledge, understanding and ability to perform the role of Internal Quality Assurer, supporting employment within a vocational education setting. It builds an understanding of the principles and practices of internally assuring the quality of assessment.

Individuals wanting to work in quality assurance
Those working in Further Education (FE) Colleges, Training Providers or Local Authorities
Individuals currently working in a teaching/training and/or assessing capacity wanting to develop their IQA knowledge and skills
Total Qualification Time
120 hours (90 GLH minimum, plus 30 hours preparation and study)
Maximum Achievement Period
24 months
What Does the Course Cover?
Mandatory Units:
Understanding the principles and practices of internally assuring the quality of assessment
Internally assure the quality of assessment
Assessment Method
Trainee IQA Workbooks (1 for each unit):
Unit 1: Theory tasks supporting the underpinning knowledge
Unit 2: Professional discussion-based task and theory-based tasks, along with practical activities relating to quality assuring assessment
Entry Requirements
Trainee IQAs must be at least 19 years old on the first day of training. It is recommended that trainee IQAs hold a recognised assessing qualification, such as:
D32/D33 Assess Candidates Performance/Assess Candidates Using a Different Range of Methods, or
A1 Assess Candidate Performance Using a Range of Methods, or
Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment or above
Trainee IQAs must have access to assessors assessing learners completing vocational qualifications in order to generate the required evidence. We advise that trainee IQAs have a minimum of Level 2 in literacy.
Certification
On successful completion, delegates receive the Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice.
