Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET)
Course Overview
The Level 3 Award in Education and Training (RQF) is an introduction to teaching for those who work or would like to work in the further education and skills sector. Learners will build an understanding of the specific roles and responsibilities related to planning and delivering inclusive training sessions.
Who Is This Course For?
Individuals not currently teaching or training who want an introduction to teaching
Individuals currently teaching and training, including those new to the profession
Individuals currently working as assessors who want to achieve a teaching qualification
Total Qualification Time
120 hours (48 GLH minimum, or 35 GLH if delivered holistically, plus 72 hours preparation and study)
Maximum Achievement Period
12 months
What Does the Course Cover?
Mandatory Units:
Understanding roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training
Understanding and using inclusive teaching and learning approaches in education and training
Optional Units (choose one):
Understanding assessment in education and training
Understanding the principles and practices of assessment
Assessment Method
Practical Assessment: Trainee trainers must be involved in at least 1 hour of microteaching. Each learner must deliver a 15-minute microteaching session observed and assessed by a member of the delivery team.
Theory Assessments: Complete 3 x Learner Workbooks as directed by the trainer.
Entry Requirements
Trainee trainers must be at least 19 years old on the first day of training. There are no other formal entry requirements, but we advise that trainee trainers consider a subject for delivery and hold the relevant qualifications and/or experience in their chosen area of expertise.
Certification
On successful completion, delegates receive the Level 3 Award in Education and Training (RQF).
