Course Overview
This course provides essential guidance on controlling life-threatening bleeding, including the safe and effective use of tourniquets and haemostatic dressings. Participants will gain the knowledge and confidence to respond effectively in critical bleeding situations.
Who Is This Course For?
Holders of Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) certificates where risk assessment identifies the need for this training
Security sector personnel (required in addition to EFAW)
Anyone wanting to enhance their first aid skills in catastrophic bleeding management
Important Information
Since October 2024, Life-Threatening Bleed Control is included in the First Aid at Work (3-day) course but is NOT included in the Emergency First Aid at Work (1-day) course. This standalone course is ideal for EFAW certificate holders who need this additional training.
Security Sector Requirements
Security personnel require either:
An in-date EFAW certificate PLUS this Life-Threatening Bleed Control certificate, OR
A First Aid at Work certificate issued after 31st January 2026, OR
A recognised in-date Enhanced First Aid Training certificate
Assessment Method
There is no formal examination. Learners are continuously assessed by the trainer throughout the course. A non-regulated certificate of achievement is awarded to those who demonstrate the required level of competence.
Entry Requirements
Learners must hold a valid First Aid at Work (pre-31 January 2026) or Emergency First Aid at Work certificate to attend this course.
