Designated workplace first aiders
Employees in higher-risk work environments
Anyone requiring comprehensive workplace first aid training
Regulatory Compliance
Meets the requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.
Assessment Method
The qualification is assessed through both practical demonstration and written assessment – learners must pass both to be awarded the qualification. There is no formal grading; learners either pass or are referred. Practical scenarios recreate real-life situations, and learners will be asked related oral questions by the trainer/assessor during the assessment.
Certification
On successful completion, delegates receive the Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work.
Certificate Validity
3 years from the date of achievement.
Requalification
Learners can attend a shortened 12-hour (2 day) requalification course, provided their current FAW qualification is in date or has not expired by more than 1 month.
Physical Requirements
Due to the practical nature of the assessment, learners must be able to get to the floor unaided and successfully demonstrate all required elements of the practical assessment independently, with the casualty on the floor. This includes demonstrating effective cardiopulmonary resuscitation on a manikin at floor level.
